With the economy globalization, the competition among the enterprises engaged in aircraft manufacturing becomes more and more fierce. At present, the means adopted by most aircraft manufacturers of China is batch management, while the modern aircraft producing is in single shipset and small batch. To meet these characteristics, the enterprises should alter the original production mode of batch management and bring in the management mechanism of AO. With the further application of information technology in enterprises, the AO system is no longer a simple computer aided planning of assembly process. Instead, enterprises need a complex system of AO designing and management which combines process planning and producing management .In this paper, firstly, the current aircraft assembling procedure and AO's characters are analysed. On the basis, a assembly shipset management system based on AO is brought forward and the features of aircraft assembling with AO applied are introduced. Taking the aircraft manufacturers'realistic requirements into consideration, the characteristics and importance of MBOM are analysed, the data construction of MBOM are summaried. The generation and application of MBOM are discussed.To match the shipset management producing, barcode technique is used to the acquisition of production information through assembling. Finally, the assembly shipset management system based on AO is analysed and devised, and the functional model and the B/S web structure of the system are established , a prototype system based on J2EE frame is developed.
