The hydro-energy resources in our country is first of the world and distributing mainly in southwest and northwest area. With the hydropower development emphases inclining to west area, large hydropower stations are built in Mountain and canyon area usually, and the underground room is the main building. With the increasing depth and size of underground room, the engineering geological problem need be solved will be more complicated. One of the problem is noxious gas. We are faced a new and especial task of prospecting,testing,appreciating and defending the noxious gas.This research is on the source,delivery and enrichment of the noxious gas, starting with investigating the kinds and characters of normal noxious gas, well knitting the feasibility-phase work of TianChi pumped-storage plant in Sinkiang province, widely gathering and referring the correlative production of coal,oil and railway industry; primarily finds out the kind of the noxious gas and it's hanm,delivery approach and the character of enrichment to danger,rule of dynamic changes, by periodical and immoveable monitoring in the prospecting hole of TianChi pumped-storage plant power room.; finds the fit testing and appreciating methods to the noxious gas and analyzes it's harm, put forward the Protective measures of TianChi pumped-storage plant, on the base of it's source,delivery approach,enrichment character and test result. And also, propositions of the noxious gas' testing,appreciation and defense for safety are given in phase of prospecting,designing,constructing and running the hydropower underground engineering..
