A Study On Architectural Pattern Based On The Hong Bridge As A Prototype

The study of architectural pattern includes two aspects—form and structure,it is helpful to improve the quality of architectural design by correctly treating and using structural technology.The Hong Bridge, which is a type of bridge in ancient china, has a particular structural system and an elegant form generated directly from it. On the basis of the Hong Bridge, which is treated as a prototype, the relevant researches have been done in this paper through a series of distillation and transformation.First, an integrate conception of the pattern of the Hong Bridge is built up by selectively classifying and expanding the relative study, according to the division of"geometry, material, force".Secondly, in the process of the deep-going study of the structural characteristic of the Hong Bridge, this paper compares and analyzes some different geometrical model, according to the diagram of internal force and deformation gained from application of the structural analysis software package SAP2000. This paper tries to discuss the transformation regulations of the structure system of the Hong Bridge, and show internal relationship between the geometrical form and force principle.Thirdly, focusing on the transformation of the Hong Bridge, this paper experimentalizes a restructure design of materials, using glulam and steel. It makes the representation of the structure and constitution a effective way for the generation of new forms by dealing with the problems accompanying with the new materials.At last, this paper collects and induces the relative studies of the pattern of the Hong Bridge in the way of diagram index. And by analyzing the works of Santiago Calatrava and Cecil Balmond, it shows in different views the prospect of configuring architecture pattern by the reasonable use of structure technology.The whole dissertation contains about 40 thousands Chinese words, 99 illustrations and 9 appendixes.
