As time goes by and economy develops, more and more bridges cannot meet the demand of traffic. One of the most important methods to resolve this problem is bridge reinforcement and repairing, therefore, it becomes a hot issue in engineering.On the basis of studying domestic and abroad materials, design specification and related literatures, this paper at first, review the regular reinforcement methods of highway bridge such as bridge deck pavement thickening, rib-beam augment, steel plate adhering, fiber material adhering, external prestressing method structural system changing and etc. and introduces separately the reinforcement theories and characteristics of every method. Secondly, in order to get the better reinforcement effect, unite some regular reinforcement methods into the new composite reinforcement method such as adhesive steel plate & adhesive prestressing composite reinforcement method and adhesive CFRP plate & section augment composite reinforcement method.The paper researches deeply on the structure of bridges strengthened with composite reinforcement methods, and carries through mechanical analysis of the composite reinforcement system. Finally, combining the FEM'software, research the rationality and availability of the application of composite reinforcement methods on the RC arch bridge by processing the composite reinforcement methods in practice. The details of the research include the following aspects:(1) Addresses status in quo of bridges home and abroad, the necessary and urgency of bridges reinforcement.(2) Finely analyzes the theory of bridge reinforcement and compared analyse the reinforcement methods and the designing methods.(3) Research the structures of adhesive steel plate & adhesive prestressing composite reinforcement method and adhesive CFR plate & section augment jiont reinforcement method and analyzes their mechanisms.(4) Combining concrete engineering , finishes the design calculation of the RC rid-arch bridge, offering a reference for similar engineering.(5) By means of software MIDAS/Civil and ANSYS , simulating analyse the compound reinforcement method on the concrete engineering .Finally , drawl some valuable conclusion.
