Banqiao lies in Longyang district, Baoshan, Yunnan province, which has about 2000 years history. Because of the Yongchang section of the Southwest Silk Road being inaugurated and the passers-by of Mabang, the old town of Banqiao appeared on the treasure place of Baoshan, and Banqiao had great development then. So there were a lot of nature landscape and culture remains in Banqiao. In recent years, Yunnan province has become one of the most popular tour places because of its local nature landscape and regional culture. Along with the development of tourism and the thorough research of regional culture, some of the traditional villages were found and exploited with tourism, which are popular tour places now. The professor Shi Wei-lin has studied the traditional settlement' s past, modern, and future on the Southwest Silk Road, who explored a group of historical villages, just like Banqiao, Yunnanyi, Shuizhai, Shiyang and so on. The villages possess zonal forms, local architecture of small breadth and big length, which front for business and back for living.Do they want to go with the other historic villages to be exploited with tourism? If yes, how to conserve the distinctive culture of material and non-material under exploitation with tourism?First, the thesis analyses the resources and problems of Banqiao. Second the thesis strives to explore a mode of conservation for live cultural resource of traditional cities, towns and villages under exploitation with tourism in and out of China, for the hope that it can do something good for Banqiao' s conservation. Then according to the character of Banqiao itself, we try to explore a mode of conservation and renewal. In the end, I hope that it can be helpful to the conservation and renewal under exploitation with tourism of the other historic villages on the Southwest Silk Road.
