The Yunnanyi Village which has a long history lies in the Xiangyun County of the Yunnan Province. A serial of historical events which happened along the Southwest Silk Road had an important impact on its origin and development, and left many heritages which carry the history and culture of the Yunnanyi. So, to find these things is a key of this thesis. Besides, today' settle appearance of the Yunnanyi Village is the result of history development, but it gradually disappearing due to complex reasons. So, in this age of calling for the protection of historical heritages, the research on it is very necessary. All the research above have logical demonstration.So many historical things and the traditional settlement appearance of the Yunnanyi village prove that it is a historical village, as a result, the protection of it is an other key point of this research. At first, according to a set of value standards, as a historical village, the value of The Yunnanyi can be known. And then, on the basis of its value, the protection of it is studied. The protection of the historical village is different from the one for the architectural heritage in cities, because it has its own features. We can not simply copy the ways of protection in cities because of the difference in economy, lifestyle, and so on. The methodology of protection in the village is been researched through studying the experience of protection in cities and the relative charts and laws about the protection. On the other hand, the research on the method of protection in Yunnanyi Village is an example of the historical villages' protection, and hoped being helpful to the protection for other historic villages.
