Ice-storage air conditioning system works by making ice in the nighttime with the power consumption at valley hours and melting the ice to release cold energy in the daytime with the power consumption at peak hours to meet air conditioning need.Ice-storage air conditioning is an important approach to shift electric demand from on-peak electric rate periods to off-peak periods, and a branch of modern air conditioning system. Theoretical research and the economic analysis of ice-storage air conditioning have important theoretical value and practical signification. The research works in this paper mainly focus on the following aspects. At first, it studies the heat transfer law in the charging and discharging of ice-on-pipe, and establishes physical models. The perturbation methods and numerical computation are applied to the analytical solutions. Furthermore, the impacts of the inlet temperature, velocity of the fluid and diameter of the pipe are discussed. From that, it gains some useful conclusions and these conclusions can provide theoretical basis for ice-on-pipe thermal storage system. Then a mathematical model for the economic analysis of ice thermal air conditioning is established. And it discusses the impacts of the refrigeration capacity, initial cost, and ice thermal storage proportion to the economic analysis. At last, the relationship between the ice thermal storage proportion and economic factors of ice thermal storage air conditioning is analyzed.
