Study On Recreational Function ChongQing Urban Public Space

Urban public space is a crucial component of urban space system, which can improve the urban function, the image of city, and the quality of urban environment. Being the important carrier for public recreation activities, urban public space is an important place for people's daily life. While the urban public space gives recreational pleasure to people, it embodies the concern of human nature and"harmonious society". Since the process of rapid urbanization, the structure of urban public space system has had tremendous changes, and the development of urban public space is about in full swing with no signs of slowing down. However, a lot of problems can be found in the built public urban spaces. Unfortunately, those urban public spaces are supposed to provide colorful life for the public. For the unsuccessful development urban public spaces, the reasons major lie in only emphasizing the aesthetic forms but neglecting of the core function of urban public space, recreational function.Based on the realization of how importance of recreational function for the urban residence daily life, the point of this dissertation is that the recreation function can merge to the urban public system as a whole. From this point of view, after literature review and investigation, this dissertation investigate the recreational function from two different layers, macro-scope layer and media-scope layer, and discuss how to take the urban public space adapting with people's recreational demand, and to set up a consummate urban public space system oriented by recreational function.The First Chapter, second Chapter being foundation of this dissertation, limit the scope of study and preliminary study the related theory. The third and fourth chapter investigate the recreational function of urban public space system from macroscopic urban planning lay, try to set up a consummate urban public space system. And via studying on the actuality of Chongqing urban public space system, it points out the problems existing in recreational function of urban public space system. The Fifth chapter compartmentalizes the urban public space to five models-- square, park, riverside, pedestrian street and community public space. Then split recreational function into three factors—recreational activities, recreational location and recreational establishment. The sixth Chapter sum up the principles of urban public space planning and design, propose the opinion and the suggestion to consummate the Chongqing's urban public space systems oriented with recreational function, and constitute a series of guideline about typical urban public space. To further guide the people to engage in healthy recreational activities create high quality urban public space up build academic basis.
