In CANDU nuclear power plants, fuel management tasks are completed by refueling engineers on site[1]. Fuel management calculations are executed every 3 days, and the refueling channel selection work must be completed within 2 hours[2]. It depends greatly on abundant professional knowledge and work experience of refueling engineer. For the better economy and safety purpose, almost all of the CANDU nuclear power plants develop refueling assistant software continually to increase work efficiency and decrease human error as much as possible[18] [19] [20]. But the refueling assistant software used by QinShan Phase 3 was developed on QBASIC and FORTRAN platform which are rather outdated. Because DBMS is not used, the current software can neither efficiently manage huge data generated during calculation work everyday, nor proper user authority. These questions should be solved as soon as possible. In order to solve the questions mentioned above, this article establishes a set of CANDU-6 refueling management information system, including a set of CANDU-6 reactor physics database and other sub-systems based on the database(such as refueling channel selection sub-system and refueling sequence optimization sub-system ). During the development of this system, structural life period method is used, and the develop phase is divided into 4 phases: system analysis, system design, system programming and system debugging. The purpose, task, method, work staff of each phase is defined clearly, new system has such functions as channel selection, refueling sequence optimization, reactor data storage, reactor data query and daily reports printing. It has been preliminarily applied in QinShan Phase 3.
