The concrete-filled steel tubular column possesses advantages over either pure steel or concrete columns. As a kind of composite structure, the steel tube can provide effective confinement to the core concrete, at the same time the core concrete can prevent the steel tube form buckling. Concrete-filled steel tubular column with steel beam has been widely used in high buildings for its favorable integration performance. In concrete-filled steel tubular column with steel beam system, the joint with outer ring stiffeners is mainly used, so it is important for engineers to realize this kind of joint deeply.In the past experimental and theoretical study within the country and abroad, researchers are mainly focused on the form of perpendicular joint with column and beam in framework. This thesis is based on a practical project of Assembling Workshop of Naval Ships and Boats Supporting Product Production Line in Wuhan Marine Machinery plant co. ltd. The study is aimed at the joint of concrete-filled steel tube column and steel beam of crane with outer ring stiffeners through experiment.Because of delay of construction, the test can not be carried on. The paper only discusses the test plan. The content of test design includes the aim of test, test instrument and disposal of test points. Finite element analysis software is used to establish a solid model to simulate the test. Corresponding figures of stress distribution and stress data are extracted to analyze the mechanical performance of ring stiffeners, shoulder beam, steel tube and concrete. The mechanical theory of the joint is analyzed based on the work of former researchers and design method of the joint is reviewed.According to the results of finite element analysis, the deficiency of current design method is discussed and some useful design suggestions are proposed on the basis of practical circumstance, which provide some reference to the design of this kind of joint.
