Based on the investigation and application of concrete-filled steel tubular joints at home and abroad, a new type of connection between concrete-filled steel tubular column and RC beam with steel bar run-through is put forward according to the joint with steel bar run-through applied in structures. Big holes are cut in the steel tubular wall of core area of the new type joint .Compared with the joint which small holes are set in the steel tubular wall for steel bar running through, the new type joint is more easily to be constructed. And a transient joint is made. This transient joint is characterized with big holes and strengthening ring and stiffing ribs at core area of the joint. Mechanical behavior of the three joints is researched and the new type joint is discussed emphatically.Utilizing the FEM analytic software named ANSYS, the three joints are analyzed under axial load, monotonic load and cyclic load. And the experimental models of the joints are analyzed with nonlinear method. The Von-Mises failure criterion and multiplies kinematical hardening stress-strain relationships are used for steel and the William-Warnke failure criterion and elastic-plastic stress-strain relationships are used for concrete. This completes and validates the experimental results. Meanwhile, based on the results obtained from the calculation with ANSYS, it can be seen that ANSYS is available for the analysis of the three joints. In terms of the analysis with FEM, it shows that the joint only with big holes is possessed of good axial and monotonic bearing capacity.By comprehensive contrast and analysis of the three joints under the cyclic load in experiment and FEM, it can be concluded that the displacement ductility and the ability of energy dissipation of this new type joint only with big holes are ideal. And it satisfies the requirement the structural seismic design. This provides theoretical and experimental reference for the engineering application.
