With the development of underwater acoustic technic, the acoustic transponder has got widespread application as an indispensable experimental equipment. The acoustic transponder is mainly used in acoustic experiments to test and calibrate the experimental equipment. Due to its low cost and widespread application, the acoustic transponder has become a common acoustic instrument. Therefore, there is greatly practical significance in the study of the design and implementation of the acoustic transponder. This thesis focuses on the design and debugging of the system's hardware and software. The hardware which is composed of the signal receiving module, the signal processing module and the transmitting module three parts, realizes these functions such as signal receiving, amplifying, filtering and transmitting. The functions of the software are generation and transmitting of the pulse, signal detection, signal intensity estimation and automation gain control. Switching the state by the order code, the system can be in the state of beacon or response. According to the work parameters, it provides many order codes, greatly enhancing the flexibility and adaptability of the system. The equipment is powered by battery and composed of low-noise, low-power and wide dynamic rang components, which has a real-time function to switch the work state. The system is based on the digital signal processor(DSP) and the complex programmable logic device( CPLD). Their strengthened abilities in digital signal processing, system and logic control, enhance the system's stability and make it possible for the function to expand in the future.
