Emission and performance of ICE largely depend on its combustion process, therefore it is essential to analyze and improve the combustion of the engine.The conventional instrument for combustion analysis has many weaknesses such as the inability of the function expansion, so it has become increasingly difficult to meet the need of science development. Electronic technologies promote the development of virtual instrument technology, which make the test system more flexible and more convenient for the engineers to set up their own systems. LabVIEW,a virtual instrument development tool of high efficiency and flexibility, is used to build a low-cost, convenient combustion analysis system for ICEs, while few hardware is involved. The main work is showing as follows:1) A data acquisition system for performance parameters is set up, which consists of sensors, data acquisition devices and computer.2) The software of the system, which is developed by Lab VIEW, had the functions including acquisition,recall,processing and analysis of cylinder pressure data.3) To test the system,a experiment is carried out for the 6135ZG diesel engine. The results of the experiment prove the system workable.With the stricter requirements in energy saving and pollution control, the dynamic characters of transient conditions of ICE is more concerned. The combustion analysis is crucial to revealing the characters of transient conditions. Take the dynamic characters of the 6315ZG diesel under constant torque and at a rising speed, for instance.The transient condition is investigated.So, connecting virtual instruments with engines is feasible and convenient, it make the test system of engines is more flexible, low-cost, shorter development cycle and wider engineering practical value.
