At first the paper describes the meaning of automobile inspection. Under the sistuation of the auto's non break up, detect the the technique condition and the usage function of the organization,system and parts. Find the failure and the hidden danger. Adopt some prevention measures.Then the automobile's service life can be extend. The conveyance ability can be enhanced. The cost will be reduced. The energy will be economized. The pollution to the environment will be reduced. At last, the driver's safety can be assured.Then a domestic and international developing situation of the auto inspection and the inspection situation of the running department gap and the transmission department windage are introduced. Take two devices we had for example, put forward the current problems under the working condition. It is expensive, inconvenient for fixing and the working condition is bad. There will exist insecure factor. So it is urgent to improve the detection device.In the significance of the paper, the auto chassis gaps are classified. The position of the gap which we concered as well as the relevant provisions of the national standards are discussed. The paper's purpose is to design a new double-rocker structural detection device of vehicle chassis gap and visual inspection for external appearance of chassis. The aim is to realize its characteristics of low cost, high dependable, automatic, visual and so on. So that they can in place of the original device of inspection for gaps. In the following, the paper analyses the inspection principle and methods of the running department gap and transmission department windage of automobile. The simple tire mold,simple running department mold and the simple transmission department mold are builded. Take the bearing gap and pin gap for example, their force is analysed. The critical condition when the gaps work is got. Build the inspection principle and the way to inspect them. Then did the same to the transmission department windage. Through the analyses, it is possible to detect the running department gap and transmission department windage in the same way. Do simulation by ADAMS/View to simple running department mold and simple tramsmission department mold. The theory validity is proved by the character curve.After that, according to the inspection principle and the inspection methods, the double-rocker structural detection system of vehicle chassis gap and visual inspection device for external appearance of chassis are designed. They include the design of the machine parts and the power device, the choice of the visual inspection device. Then how to place the two devices in the automobile performance testing lines is introduced. So are the other parts in the system .The finite element analysis to the mold of the double-rocker structural detection system of vehicle chassis gap is carried on. COSMOS/Works as the finite element analysis software is introduced . The steps of the finite element analysis are showed. The graphic solutions of the displacement,the strain,the stress and the distortion are got. They confirmed the structure's reliability.Then a dynamic simulation on the model of the double-rocker structural detection system of vehicle chassis gap is done. The simulation software-ADAMS is introduced. Change the file's format of the mold. Import it into the software. Set the parameter. Do the simulation. The mold's track is got. Then the displacement of the mold can be got. Do a simulation for the test of the running department gap and transmission department windage of automobile at the same time. The test is based on the mold of the double-rocker structural detection system of vehicle chassis gap. Take the bearing's gap and transmission department windage for example. Through the analysis to the curve of force vs displacement, the simulation prove the inspection device's feasibility and function. Then the paper describe the function of the visual inspection device for external appearance of chassis.In the following, the paper studies the system of the measurement and control method of the inspection device. It is comprised by two main parts that are signal collecting system and control system. The signal collecting system includes the selection of the sensors,amplification and filter module,the selection of A/D switching card and I/O card. Take the force sensor for example, the collection and disposal process of the simulation signal are introduced. The control system is aim to the compute's control to the motor and the control to the photoelectric sensor. The set-position of the photoelectric sensor is very important to the inspection system. To the visual inspection device for external appearance of chassis, the control system mainly include the control of the motor and the wired controller. In the following, this paper described the process of the software and the design of circuit's anti-interference.At last, the paper outlooked the further research of the double-rocker structural detection device of vehicle chassis gap and visual inspection for external appearance of chassis. It's hoped that the inspecting system can be marked, evaluation standard can be established, the precise value of the different gaps can be measured, image processing technology can be used, the measure and control system can be perfected.In summary, firstly, the paper integrated the theory of the inspection of running department gap and transmission department windage. Designed the double-rocker structural detection device of vehicle chassis gap and visual inspection device for external appearance of chassis. Changed the traditional power mode of the device for inspection of chassis gap. Used motor instead of hydraulic station. Reduced the cost; Secondly, the simple tire mold,simple running department mold and the simple transmission department mold are built. According to the finite element analysis and the dynamic simulation, the inspection device's feasibility and function are proved. The goal is fulfilled; Thirdly, the paper used camera firstly in the inspection for external appearance of chassis. Visual inspection device for external appearance of chassis would improv working situation and avoid the non-checking problem; Fourthly, the paper studies the system of the measurement and control method of the inspection device.
