Zirconia oxygen sensors are necessary for automobile, especially which using electronic fuel injection, and planar zirconia oxygen sensors are new development. This paper is based on researches and developments of this kind of oxygen sensors. According to the relevant oxygen sensors production process, we have made the core component of oxygen sensor (YSZ solid electrolyte) by powder preparation, electrode slurry preparation, screen printing, stacking hot pressing and sintering process, at last we have detected the signal of oxygen sensor.In the experiment, three kinds of YSZ powder have been obtained by coprecipitation method, hydrothermal method and the third one which has been produced by Nanbo company. The powder which is produced by hydrothermal method is better than the other tow, and its slurry load is higher, too. Modified fish oil has been used as dispersant in ethanol and xylene solvent for dispersing YSZ powder. The experiment has added H2O2 into fish oil in order to modify in different extent under varying conditions, and examined the effect of dispersion by measuring packed-bed height. In the end, the fish oil exposed in light for 9 hours has the best dispersibility, which is taken as the dispersant, and a better quality green tape has been obtained. Tow kinds of oxygen sensor electrode slurry have been used, one is home-made, and the other is from Kunming Institute of Precious Metals. The latter is better than the former in conduct electricity, but its adhesion is not ideal. In the end, we have done the oxygen sensor detection, test results show that zirconia oxygen sensor output signal is accurate and response time is short, so it is able to meet the basic vehicle emissions system application.
