Virtual instrument(VI for short) is a new kind of electronic instrument with electronic measure technology deeply combined with computer technology and in a good developed foreground, and is widely used in every field of science technology. The realization of Virtual Digital Storage Oscilloscope(VDSO) based on USB2.0 is presented in detail in the paper, including hardware design and simulation, firmware design, driver design and application design. On the basis of above work, the sampling technology is deeply discussed in the aspect of theory, including real time sampling, sequential sampling, random sampling, and the different sampling mode is validated and compared on the newly exploited system. In addition, on the basis of analyzing trigger mode and trigger principle in the oscilloscope at hand, the new trigger design idea about negative delay and positive delay is present. Timing simulation is done using QuartusII, and validated in FPGA. It's resulted that the problem about signal with single pulse is uneasy to catch is solved, fully using digital advantage of VI in the design. It's indicated, the max sampling rate is up to 80MSPS, the input range is -5V-+5V, the buffer is single route 128Kbytes on board, forepart bandwidth is 100MHz, and strong function on data process.
