With the concept-performance based design proposed and its application in Earthquake engineering community, people began to pay attention to Nonlinear Static Method and make further research about the method. The conventional pushover method can't catch the effect of advanced modes because of its inherent drawback. Which limit its application in earthquake engineering. Currently, multi-mode pushover method (MMP) which could catch the effect of advanced modes increasingly became the focus. Out of the MMP, Mode pushover method (MPA) was recognized as the prospective method; however, its application in high buildings encountered some problems. On another hand, the seismic performance got from inelastic demand spectrum was increasingly popular because it avoids the complicated nonlinear time history analysis. This paper does research about the above two problems, it includes four parts:1. Based on different strength reduction factors and response spectrum of china seismic code, the program for establishing constant demand spectrum and deciding the target displacement was developed; The 13 artificial seismic grounds based on I , II soil sites was used to analyst the effect of hysteric model of SDOF to constant ductility spectrum. In he mean time, The comparison was made between approximate constant ductility spectrum by different strength reduction factors and elastic demand spectrum based on equivalent linear method by standard constant ductility spectrum which was developed by SDOF nonlinear time history. At last , six SDOF systems was used to verify the conclusion and the difference of deciding target displacement based on response of spectrum of Sino-American seismic codes was analyzed.2.
