The problem about how to solve domestic serious road traffic safety has already caused a great attention of domestic and international expert. Influence reasons emerging in traffic accident of the road to be in many aspects, and a lot of factors can't be expected in the concrete accident, so how to choose the influence variable to be essential in the analysis of the traffic accident.The research has indicated that there are many factors having compacted relation with traffic accident among the road conditions. For instance,the curve radii, the slope, the distance of sight, etc. The line shape condition of the road has the most directed and distinct affect on the traffic safety.The paper quotes the conception of possible speed and study the traffic safety from this visual angle. Possible speed means that in the good climatic and traffic condition, the automobile is only influenced by the geometry line shape of the highway; the driver with skilled technology drives the travel speed that the automobile may reach while going along certain highway.Possible speed is decided by geometry line shape of the road mainly, its change can reflect the change state of the line shape of the road, and the geometry line shape of the road play a very important role to emergence of the traffic accident, so the change of the possible speed can reflect the security state of the road.This thesis has proposed quantization appraise index of line shape consistency based on possible speed at first. There is obvious dependence between this quantization index and traffic accident, so it can be carried on the safety evaluation of the traffic to the concrete road according to this index.
