With the rapid development of computer and information technology, simulation technology has made great progress. Simulation systems of Power Station make good contributions to the security of Power Station. A high capability Simulation System stands on faster communications. The faster communication is the base of the simulation System.In this paper, an OPC Data Access Server applied to systems of Power Station was developed after the Data Access Standard of OPC Foundation and the Component Object Model of the Microsoft corporations were studied. As an extension of the Real-Time Database, the server has a buffer which conncets to the Database directly. Any OPC client application can access data from the server in a standard way.Firstly, the Component Object Model (COM) and the OPC Data Access Standard (OPCDA) based on COM were introduced. The ATL tool of Visual C++ was then used to develop the OPC server application, the relations of three objects of OPC Server Component were well designed, and all interfaces of objects and the methods of them were implemented. A high quality data server was constructed. Then,the server was tested by several client tools. It was found that the server worked steadily and could fully meet the needs of Simulation systems in Power Station. Finally, some important ideas were putted forward to improve something incomplete of this paper.
