The powerhouse of hydropower station is the final place where hydro energy is changed into electric energy and is one of the main buildings in hydro project. With the flourishing development of the hydropower enterprise in China, the powerhouse is larger and larger, its importance is more and more outstanding, accordingly, it has put forward higher request for structural design of the powerhouse. the bulb tubular power station (BTPS) among them becomes a kind of prevalent pattern presently because of its smooth flows, aircrew's large flow, high unit rotational speed, high efficiency, small size, light weight, good energy and economic indicator. However, because of unique arrangement pattern of factory of BTPS, it causes stress distribution to have characteristic which is different from the routine factory of power station, especially BTPS built in the high earthquake intensity district. So, the research and analysis of this project has very important realistic meaning.The method usually used in the course of powerhouse designing at present is the method of structural mechanics, the method of mechanics of materials and finite element method. The method of structural mechanics and the method of mechanics of materials have been used for a long time, the result of computation is reliable and it has been proved in numerous actual projects. When the model is simplified, it is very difficult to hold certain yardstick; The simplification will neglect the influence of the component size in the course of loading; When choosing the section, the section chosen is independent, which has neglected the influence of other sections.Finite element method is always with the aid of powerful finite element software and computer, the computational work is little, it is difficult to make mistakes in the computational process, the result can be shown in the form of figure picture. But to the complicated powerhouse, the work of modeling is large, in the mesh generation, random is stronger, human factor is of great impact,.In this paper, the method of structural mechanics and finite element method were separately used in the computation of a power station project.
