The powerhouse of hydropower station is the final place where hydro energy is changed into electric energy and is one of the main buildings in hydro project. With the flourishing development of the hydropower enterprise in China, the powerhouse is larger and larger, its importance is more and more outstanding, accordingly, it has put forward higher request for structural design of the powerhouse.The method usually used in the course of powerhouse designing at present is the method of structural mechanics, the method of mechanics of materials and finite element method. The method of structural mechanics and the method of mechanics of materials have been used for a long time, the result of computation is reliable and it has been proved in numerous actual projects. But the amount of computation is great and it is very apt to make mistakes if the design is calculated only by hand; When the model is simplified, it is very difficult to hold certain yardstick; The simplification will neglect the influence of the component size in the course of loading, especially when the load is big, it will have bigger impact on the result; When choosing the section, the section chosen is independent, which has neglected the influence of other sections.Finite element method is always with the aid of powerful finite element software and computer, the computational work is little, it is difficult to make mistakes in the computational process, the result can be shown in the form of figure picture. But to the complicated powerhouse, the work of modeling is large, in the mesh generation, random is stronger, human factor is of great impact, and there will also be strange value in some position.In this paper, the method of structural mechanics, the method of mechanics of materials and finite element method were separately used in the computation of a power station project. By comparing and analyzing the result of calculation, the conclusions were drawn, the rational computing methods and suggestion to the structure computation were put forward.
