Research On Controlling Process Of Surface And Properties Quality Of Steel Cord

The steel cord is an ideal carcass material of rubber products ,especially radial tires for cars, it is one of the strictest products of quality requirement with high technical advantage in wire products. The steel cord has the characteristics such as high strength,small deformation and excellent performance of radiation and fatigue behavior. Therefore, compared to traditional tire, the radial tire made of steel cord has more advantages.Now, the production-level of steel cord in our country is far from meeting the demand that the rapid development of tire trade, certain disparity exists with foreign countries in such aspects as specification, quality and output. Firstly, this paper has introduced the current situation of the development of steel cord both at home and abroad and the development trend in the future, including the quality and technology requirement of wire for steel cord which produced by domestic and international company and the technological process of the steel cord have been narrated briefly; the heat treating process of steel wire and variety of microstructure and performance after drawing and quenching have been analysed especially. This text also has explained the formation mechanism of the surface oxide layer of wire rod and principles of descaling by alternating bending and influencing factors of pickling. The decarburization mechanism of wire in heating process and measuring method of practical decarburized depth is also introduced.Constituents,structure and appearance of oxide scale on the surface of each sample have been researched by experiments and the differences have been compared; practical decarburized depth have been measured and quantitative variance on surface quality of different products have been provided; the craft parameters of heating and lead bath quenching have been analysed by orthogonal test, the intensity and plasticity of each sample have been tested and compared. Then, better heat treating craft is advised according to the experimental results.
