A Computer Aided Design System For The Corrosion Protection Of Ship

The ocean accounts 71% of the earth's surface, which is a hostile and aggressive environment. A ship which is made of steel mainly is corroded every time and everywhere. Corrosion is not only waste materials but also cause accident and casualty. Therefore, the ship protection is inevitable. Now, the coating protection and the cathodic protection have been used as effective techniques to prevent corrosion in the sea. With the rapid development of boat industry and complexity of the design of the corrosion protection for the ship, computer technique used in corrosion and protection field that is an inevitable tendency, a computer aided design system for the corrosion protection of ship has been built. The system can make the design process of protective projects to computerization, decrease factitious factors and increase efficiency and economy of the protective projects.The computer aided design system includes a database based on software SQL Server 2000 of the corrosion protection of ship and procedures based on software Visual Basic 6.0, which designs coating projects and cathodic projects according to criterions of bureau of ship, and can estimate protection effect and economy of the projects. The bureau of ship includes Lloyd's Register of Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas, Germanifcher Lloyd, French Shipclassification Bureau and China Classification Society. The coating protection design includes the new ship design and repairing ship design, the cathodic protection design involves a sacrificial anode system of hull and sacrificial anode system of Ballast Tanks and an impressed current system of hull. The protection effect involves coating protection effect and cathodic protection effect. The economic analysis is estimated according to cost of per square meter, cost of per square meter annually and cost of total life.The research shows that the computer aided design system for the corrosion protection of ship can design coating protection projects and cathodic protection projects according to criterions of bureau of ship, the estimating module can estimate protection effect and economy of the projects. So, the system possesses practicability.
