Power line communication uses power line as communication media for data transmission and information exchange. With the advancement of the technologies of modulation, transmission and signal procession, power line communication is developing fast these years. Because power line communication has several advantages, such as no need of new wire and low cost, it has drawn a lot of attentions in all the fields of communication. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a critical technology for the realization of broadband power line communication. It utilizes several sub-carriers which are orthogonal with one another to transmit information, thus, the utilization of frequency band is enhanced greatly and the frequency selective fading and time variation in power line channel can be overcome effectively. It is good measure of credible communication. The thesis make a Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) System buy OFDM in the very low frequency (5-10Hz) of power line. It is a beneficial attempt and research. The thesis deisgn and carry out transfer terminal of the system, the sink is designed by another student. The thesis introduces the AMR system and the characters of power line channel first; and introduces the principle and some critical technologies of OFDM in detail; then the thesis introduces the design's project and cause of model and parameter of the system, and dose some data simulation and system analysis about the critical technologies in OFDM and the whole simulation system by MATLAB; at last, the thesis introduces the designs of software and hardware of system transmission part, it's core is TMS320VC5409.
