CFRD is one of important types of hydraulic structure and has been developed rapidly in the past 30 years, but there is no mature design theory in the dam-stage of design experience.In order to raise the level of design, save material, minish investmet and optimize the design, the problem of construction material subarea optimization of hydropower CFRD in Bakun and settlement deformation between the stage of construction and runtime have been researched and come to some useful conclusion for construction and design . The paper CFRD Development and Research focused on the following aspects :In this paper, six schemes are researched and the respective results are compared according to the different resultants of materal 3B and 3C, the model of Ducan E-B is used in allusion to construction material subarea optimization of hydropower CFRD in Bakun. The model of Ducan E-B and Double yielded Plane of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute are adopted to simulate the materal in the 3B subarea and the respective calculation are compared.And come to some demonstration about the rationality of dam material and its subarea.In addition,some suggestions are advanced.The sink deformation of the dam body and the fracture of face face-slabel which is made by the deformation of dam body and the creak and the failure of the wreck are the core problem in the research of CFRD .The rockfill is the principal body in the structure of CFRD,whose deformation state decide all the structures'.To the original design plan of the Bakun CFRD,the 3DM nonliner plastic static finite element analysic, 3DM elastoplastic finite element and 3DM nonliner rheological finite element have been made in this article which is mand by nonliner plastic E-B model ,double yield surface elastoplastic model and rheolofical E-B model .when the 3DM finite element numerical analysis was made ,the rheological propertyof the rockfill material in the construction petiod and impound has been chewed on .The defofmation of the rockfill material anytime was built up by instant deformation and the rheology deformation .By the three kinds of finite element analysises ,the deformation of sink,lateral and rheoloyral in constration,competion and operation period can be got,the flexurel deformation of the face plant ,the differenttial settlement of face plant vertial seam and peripheral joint seam,the shear displacement and slide displacement can be got ,too. By this article the law of sink deformation ,the law of stress in construction and competion period and the law of innerforce adjust in operation of the dam are argued .The stabilization of the dam and the design rationality are argued ,too. Lots of good advises for the design of the dam are given .
