This paper retrospects the history and present state of the prestressed concrete continuous box girder bridge. The basic designing theory and the main construction methods are also summarized in this paper, which discussed how to choose the basic parameters and the noticeable issues during the designing process. Based on the Dong-zhi-di Bridge, three different programmes are compared and the most suitable one is determined.The paper also introduced the 2-d and 3-d finite element method and the grillage theory basically. Based on the above theory, three finite element models of Dong-zhi-di Bridge are built using the Doctor Bridge and the Midas software. By the comparison of these two kinds of the finite element model, how to divide the grillage, how to calculate the constants for longitude beams and transverse beams, and how to choose the proper section of the lateral section are discoursed and useful conclusions are obtained, and it provides a good choice for the similar projects to use the grillage method during the theoretical calculation.Considering the physical circumstance of Dong-zhi-di Bridge, the soil-form support method is recommended. Soil-form support method is detailed introduced and analyzed, which is proved to have much superiority.
