Research On The Desing Of Waterscape

This thesis focuses on the design of waterscape. As the most active element in the nature, water is one of the bridges linking human beings to the nature, and plays an important role in man-made environment. The contemporary waterscape design pays more attention to the aesthetic function, the spiritual function and the ecological function, the researches and applications of waterscape design have developed sufficiently. By making a comprehensive study of the basic conception and evolution of waterscape design, this thesis tries to discuss the principles and methods about waterscape design, and tries to apply them to practices.The thesis consists of three chapters. In chapter 1, the thesis studies the basic conception, the elemental characters and functions of water, and makes a brief analysis of the origin and development of waterscape. In chapter 2, four principles of waterscape design are discussed according to the attributes of water. They are the principle of noumenon, the principle of ecology, the principle of culture and the principle of enjoyment. Based on the theoretic researches in the previous chapters and with the studies on practical projects, the methods of waterscape design are particularly discussed, and the viewpoint of designing waterscape ecologically is put forward in chapter 3.This thesis consists of about 48,000 Chinese words with 129 illustrations.
