The rapid progress and wide employment of computer monitoring technology in middle and big-sized pump-stations requires most of them implementing unattended operation which is demanding in the reliability of the monitoring system.The article was from the writer's personal experience as the major designer and the relative engineering data collected from the project. The paper stated the necessity of the motoring system's reliability and the concept of unattended operation; introduced the system design for high-assurance water supply and the reliability design of water supply engineering computer monitoring system. Base on the analysis to the factors that affect the reliability of computer monitoring system, the paper discussed the principles and methods to make high-reliability design and drew the conclusion that the advanced and reliable system structure, sound system function and reasonable equipment selection as well as the safety measurements on redundant design, technology and management are important roles assuring the reliability of computer monitoring system. The paper then discussed the defects and other problems of the monitoring system and brought forward creative suggestions. May it helps to the computer monitoring system design in the future.
