Nowadays, the external melt ice-on-coil technology has applied in ice thermal storage engineering. However, there is little professional research about this technology. In china, the relative experimental researches result about the discharge characteristics of external melt ice-on-coil system is very shortage and the experimental study is just limited in static external melt. There is no paper reporting the total examination in external melt technology.In order to make a complete study about the discharge performance of external melt ice-on-coil tank, the external melt experimental apparatus was built over an internal melt device. The novel conductive plastic has good anti-corrosiveness and their thermal conductivity is much higher than that of common plastic.In this paper, following works have been done:1. The heat transfer in charge and discharge processes about the ice-on-coil tank is analyzed theoretically and the difference between the internal melt and external melt process heat transfer is classified.2. The external melt experimental apparatus has been built.3. Experimental study about the external melt heat transfer performance of conductive ice-on-coil tank, including static discharge and dynamic discharge properties has been carried out.4. The discharge performance between the external melt and partial charged internal melt is experimentally compared.In the end, the summary of this paper is also given.
