This thesis introduces the design theory and method (based on experiential expressions) about smoke prevention and purging system, expounds the key question of performance design by the analysis of the fire case of a shopping center.Under the background of the performance design of a shopping center in Chongqing, It analyzes the smoke prevention-purging system and evacuation distance of the compartment on crowded marketplace and cinema. The performance design of two protection compartments has been analyzed by the implement of performance design.CFD and PHOENICS have been used to simulate the smoke movement in the marketplace (where the compartment area overruns the criterion) and the cinema (where the evacuation distance overruns the criterion), calculate the available safe evacuation time (ASET); requisite safe evacuation time has been analyzed by EVANET, the fire safety design of two protection compartments have been demonstrated.The result show that: In the marketplace where the compartment area overruns the criterion ,when the power of fire origin is 5MW it takes 20 minutes that smoke descend to 2.2m (the cautionary height), when the power of fire origin is 20MW, it takesl2 minutes that smoke descend to 2.2m . RSET (440s) is simulated by EVACNET ,which fulfils the evacuation request; in the cinema, the power of fire origin is 5MW or 8MW, it takes during 10 minutes to 3m, RSET (410s) is enough for the request.The study shows that: it is proper for the evacuation request that performance analysis could be used to shepherd the adjustment of the conceptual design of this building (the compartment area or the evacuation distance overruns the criterion)...
