Gas pipeline leakage detection and location is an important topic for environment protection and pipeline safety. The leakage accidents in pipelines transportation not only cause great loss of material, but also are likely to cause a corrosion leakage in the future on the same time. If we don't find the leak place in the pipelines in time, it easily occurs to the tragedy accidents of the fire, the blast and the environment pollution. Consequently, in order to guarantee the pipelines work safely and minimize the losses caused by leakage accidents, it is necessary to study leakage detecting technology to raise the sensitivity of detection and accuracy of localization.The use of acoustic leakage detection method in natural gas pipelines is investigated. Leakage detection in natural gas pipeline is of great importance. The accuracy and sensitivity of leakage detection are improved with this method. The trend and usual method of leakage monitor are introduced. The character of pressure wave propagation at leakage position and acoustic leakage detection principle are analyses and the system design on the basis of SmallRT0S51 is presented. The design of measuring circuit and selection about sensor are explained. The circuit of signal input process and filter design on the base of leakage acoustic character. SmallRT0S51 provides real-time applications with 8-bit Microcontroller. Embedded real-time operating system manage measure task to realize data sample and data transport and abnormal condition. The application of VisualC++6.0 and MATLAB6.5 development condition realize leakage measure and leakage location with digital filter, FFT and digital signal correlation in computer system.The test result shows that microphone sensor under press condition can apply to acoustic leakage measure and location. The single chip system can transmit the leakage signal to computer and analyze the data. Embedded RTOS system in single chip improved the stability and reliability of acoustic leakage measure system. The software pays attention to analysis and selection useful leakage signal from the quantity of background noise. The key research of this text is how to draw and analyze the acoustic wave signal in the pipeline. The result of wave andtest data of software shows that this method can measure leak of pipeline and this acoustic sensor can apply in pipeline leak detection.
