In our country, water resource is scarce while urban water supply pipeline leakage and water waste is serious.What's more, foreign products are not used commonly because of many elements. In this paper,we designed a set of leak detection and location system based on EMD denoising and cross correlation method.In the process of designing and realizing the system,we have done main work as follows:Pipeline leak detection and location methods and technology level is studied by reading periodicals and searching relevant information. Denoising the collected signal is a good way to improve cross correlation location accuracy. In order to remove interference noise apart from leakage acoustic signal better, leakage form, leakage source, leakage signal characteristics and the types of background noise is studied.Besides, the advantages and disadvantages of the existing frequency selective filter, wavelet denoising and adaptive noise elimination denoising methods is summarized?Urban water supply pipeline leak detection and location system scheme is designed, and system hardware parts including sensor shell mechanical structure design is realized. Sensing probe is mainly composed of sensor module, data acquisition module, signal conditioning module, the data transmission module and power module. The collection concentration is designed and realized and is made up of power module, WiFi module, GPRS module,433 MHZ communication module, storage module, GPS module, calendar and clock module, and MCU management module. The working process of system software parts is showed.Signal processing technology is the key to ensure the leak detection and location accuracy. The collected data is denoised by using the EMD decomposition method based on the kurtosis characteristics,and then cross correlation time delay estimation location algorithm is used to determine the leakage point location.
