Renewal Design Of Riverside Old Region Of City

The riverside old region is one of the most prosperous areas in the traditional cities of China, where the history and the spirit of the city are congregated. The modern industry and city extended to bring the riverside old region the economy prosperity, also producing pollution of the environment. With the social and economical development since the 1990's, the renewal and reconstruction of the riverside old region has become the focus of city construction. However, many of the renewal designs not only led to damages on the historic and cultural environment of the city, but also brought new problems to society and economy. Therefore, how to preserve the history and cultural tradition of the city while creating a new image of the riverside old region becomes an urgent issue.This dissertation mainly discusses the solution to the problems of the renewal design of the traditional riverside region in Chinese cities. At the beginning, the author analyzed the history and the regulation of the riverside old region. After comparing the study item between the riverside old region of domestic and abroad, it put forward the problems of the renewal design of the traditional riverside region in Chinese cities. Then the author consulted the theory of"design with nature", the theory of landscape ecology, the theory of the renewal of the city, the theory of the history protect of the city and the theory of landscape plan and design, put forward the Principle and Strategy of the renewal design of the riverside region in Chinese cities. According to the synthesize of the ecosystem environment manage, the history cultural protection, the City working talent, the corpus part of the paper fully discussed the approach of the renewal design of the riverside region in Chinese cities. Besides, it gave a lot of examples to Certificate the theory. Furthermore, the author tries to apply this theory to the renewal and design of the Grand Canal riverside region of Hang Zhou in Zhejiang Province.After summarizing the dissertation, the epilogue concludes with an emphasis that the renewal design of riverside old regions in cities of China should take an approach that fits in the Chinese historic and cultural background. Renewal design should consider ecosystem, history, culture and people requirement of the city at one time, then, our riverside region would become better.
