Excitation system, an important part of a synchronous generator, directly affects the reliability and stability of generator operating. Excitation system failure is main cause electrical emergency of generator. Because faults diagnosis experts cannot go to the field to handle faults in time, the remote monitoring system of the motor excitation is regarded as one of the efficient and economic means. In this thesis, a computer network, which is based on PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and modem, can finish remote monitoring the excitation parameters.Through remote communication with the superior processor of the excitation system, the computer in the remote monitoring center realizes the real-time monitoring of the excitation parameters, and writes parameters in the database to provide inquiry and analysis for the experts in the remote monitoring center, leading to the faults diagnosis by experts for the excitation system in time.Followed by introduction of the operation mode and AT (Attention) commanding, the paper focuses on the integral design idea, the development and concrete realization process of the remote monitoring software, furthermore, it especially expounded the communication module and the data managing module.Visual C++ 6.0 is employed as the programming tool for this remote monitoring software. Through calling function of the MSComm ActiveX control to realize serial-parallel communication and programming the modem. It can realize the function of establishing data link circuit and remote transmission of the excitation parameters by PSTN and so on. Access Database and ODBC are used in the software as backstage Database. VC employs many language commands to access the Database in order to meet the operational demands of...
