Based on the practical engineering project and production traits of beam front axles assembly products, the dissertation focuses on several problems on online testing techniques and methods of steering and braking performance of beam front axles, and finally an online testing system has been researched and developed to meet the practical project requirements.Firstly, the thesis presents the study's background and significance, explains the author's major work in this study. Founded on comprehensive reviews of research history and actuality of Chinese and foreign vehicle performance experiment & testing techniques and equipments, an improving idea of existing methods and techniques has been proposed to use on the beam front axles' performance testing.Secondly, after systemic analysis of braking process mechanical models, wheel alignment parameters and steering trapezoid geometric models of steering system, the system's overall project and achievements of critical function have been discussed according to testing function requirements. And some critical problems which could achieve the testing function has been researched, including movement inertia simulation, steering motion simulation, braking distance accounting, torque and angle measuring, speed adjustment on frequency conversion and its control, EMC problems of inverters and its solution, electric control and DAQ system and so on. Focusing on these critical techniques, concrete design on mechanism, hardware and software system has been done, moreover, the whole and final online testing system design has been finished.Finally, the thesis has brought forward the system's testing flow in practical application, analyzed and discussed several practical testing outcomes.
