In power system, the stable operation of synchronous generator has been widespread concerned all over the world. Of the most effective and economic measures to improve the stability, enhancing the performance of excitation control system is widely accepted. Excitation control system is in charge of regulating the generator output voltage and guaranteeing its stably operation with full output power, which plays an important role in enhancing the static and dynamic stability of the power system, especially for large-scale interconnected power system.This dissertation specifies the function and performance requirements of excitation control system, and compares the advantages and disadvantages of present systems in detail. Having referenced to those advanced excitation control modes domestic and abroad, the dissertation presented the synthetic"NOEC+PID"method, and implemented it on the digital signal processor (DSP). Firstly each kind of microprocessor performance characteristic were analyzed and compared, then the dissertation designed a set synchronous generator excitation control device, which takes 32-bit DSP chip TMS320F2812 made in TI Corporation as its core chip. At last, the experiment was carried out on the device with stand-alone load and the satisfying results were got.The hardware and software design process of the device is introduced in the dissertation. Many integrate circuits was used in the system circuit, and in the way the device becomes simple and gets high reliability .The system software design follows the modular structure and up-to-down design principle, so that the procedures are clear, reliable and easy to maintain.In the device, with the powerful data processing and high-speed computation capability of TMS320F2812 chip, advanced excitation control strategy can be carried out. And taking full advantage of its rich hardware resources on chip, the problems can be resolved, which usually appear in the traditional systems, such as structure complex, bad real-time performance. With the single CPU, the device can implement signal frequency tracking, rapid A/D sampling, AC sampling algorithms, NOEC+PID excitation control strategies, and various excitation restrictive and protective functions.
