Excitation controller, as a main part of excitation system in the synchronous generator, affects the safe and steady operation of generators and power systems. The existing analog excitation controller of this generator can't meet the demand for the running of synchronous generator. So in this thesis, the excitation control system is studied, then a sort of digital excitation controller based on DSP is designed.Firstly, the paper introduces the state and trend of excitation controller in the synchronous generator and analyses the problems existing in it. The basic structure and the control method of the excitation controller are established.Secondly, choose TMS320F2812 as the CPU of this excitation controller. And then this paper describes the design methods of the hardware and software used in the excitation controller based on this chip, presents the schematic diagram of hardware and the flowchart of the software, and with them, the fast AC sampling, frequency measurement, excitation algorithm and PWM control and etc, are realized in one chip taking advantage of the characters of this chip, such as high performance processing capabilities, plenty of peripherals on chip and high real time control and so on. Adoption of this chip makes the excitation controller has simpler structure, stronger anti-jamming capability and higher stability.At last, In order to overcome the shortcomings of traditional PID controller, Fuzzy control, that doesn't need the accurate model of the controlled target and has wonderful adaptability, is combined with the traditional PID controller to form Parameter self-tuning Fuzzy-PID controllers.The simulation and test results indicate that the excitation controller based on TMS320F2812, has the characters of simple hardware structure, high reliability, easy maintains, high ratio between performance and price and etc. The excitation controller based on this chip has a bright application value in the future.
