In this thesis, the radiation of ultra-high-frequency (UHF) signals emitted from transformers'partial discharge is studied theoretically. A two-wire Archimedean planar spiral antenna is designed, the characteristic of the antenna is measured in laboratory, which proves that the capability of the antenna is good. A software measuring system for transformer partial discharge based on LabVIEW platform is developed and the characteristics of UHF signals under several discharge models are analyzed and studied. In addition, the attenuation and propagation characteristics of UHF signals in transformers are studied experimentally. At last, the detection experiments using a monopole antenna of UHF signals outside transformers are also carried out, which will provide experiment foundation for UHF partial discharge detection of transformer. The work performed in this thesis will be of some value in terms of theory and practice for the UHF partial discharge detection of transformer.
