Soil cement is an integral, calculous and water-stability material, which is producedby the physical-chemistry reaction between cement and soil, through stirring them.The application of soil cement is largely extended. It and its relative methods offoundation treatment are usually used on mud, bottom clay, clayey soil and silty soilwith bearing capacity under 120 kPa. But it is used much less in soil layers which thephysical mechanics properties are better. Even it is used in these layers, theparameters of soft soil are applied directly, that makes the efficiency losing ofsoil-layer, increases the construct cost and causes a waste of economy. So, this thesisresearches soil cement's engineering property in Beijing area through the largenumbers of tests.Based on detailedly summarizing the mechanism of action of soil cement, this thesismakes a lot of tests of the engineering property under different water cement ratiosand cement ratios, including monospindle unconfined compression test, strain-stressrelation test, triaxial shearing test and impermeability test, and draws conclusions.Firstly, the physical-chemistry reaction of cement is reacted around the active soil.But the action is more complex, the speed slower and the process of increasingstrength are slow also. So the strength increases with age of soil cement.Secondly, the engineering characters show rising tendency with age, which mainly isthe increasing of the unconfined compressive strength and elastic modulus.Thirdly, with the addition of water cement ratio, the engineering characters showreducing. The property of in-situ soil layer is better;the strength of soil cement ishigher under the same water cement ratios.Fourthly, the strength increase in total with the addition of cement ratio.Fifthly, the impermeability of soil cement is better than in-situ soil's and carries on theneed of water-proof construction of temporary support.The thesis contrasts the soil cement with it in soft soil area, and systematicallyresearches on the engineering property of soil cement in Beijing area which physicalcharacters of soil layer is better.This thesis provides the datum and parameters referencing for engineering, andaccumulates basis datum for the application and extension of soil cement.
