The thesis has primarily researched the basic theory and the method how to realize the kinematics and static-force analysis and kinematic design of gear trains with computer.According to the structure analysis of gear trains, the basic gear trains units--the basicstructure chains and the complement of basic structure chains are presented. Therefore, any gear trains will be decomposed into the basic gear trains units, the structure analysis of gear trains is realized. Correspondingly, adding the basic structure chains to the complement of basic structure chains of the low-level gear trains, the high-level gear trains will be gained. Besides, parent array, leaf couple array, leaf couple parent array, and basic loop matrix of gear trains etc are adopted to express digitally the structure of gear trains. The structure of gear trains will be automatically identified, which will provide information for computer aided analysis and design of gear trains.The kinematics analysis equation of the basic loop gear trains units will be established based on the motion relationship of three parts of each basic loop. The kinematics analysis model of gear trains is constructed by using the basic loop group of gear trains units.The characteristic of the force of each kinematic pair and the parts of gear trains are analyzed, and the basic analysis method of dynamics is introduced. We deduce the mechanical equation of arbitrary kinetic part of gear trains. The uniform mathematics model of the static-force analysis of gear trains is gained by banding together the force relationship of each kinematic pair of gear trains.Based on the demand of gear trains in mesh properly, we analyze the restriction of kinematic design of gear trains. The relationship of the basic restriction with the structure of gear trains is presented. The information sets of the restriction equation for the kinematic design of gear trains will be gained automatically. The kinematic design model of gear trains is constructed.The software of the kinematics and static-force analysis and kinematic design of gear trains is developed with MATLAB6.5. Using the software, we can obtain the rotate speed of any part of gear trains, the output moment, the force on each pair at any time, and many design results that can be chosen by the deviser.
