Simulation technology is a comprehensive technology that conducts dynamic study on a realor a virtual system with mathematical models or partial real objects by the tools of computers andvarious physical equipments. The basis of the technology is analogue theory, control theory,computer technology, information technology and relative applied professional technologies. Theswing test bench is the key equipment for many tested system and kinematic simulation. In recent10 years, the domestic simulation technology progresses rapidly and has stepped into worldadvanced level.The swing shaft test bench is a high accurate test system that combines mechanical, electric,instrumental and computer equipment into one. That can provide not only swing movement underload conditions, but also the real angle values between datum plane and sea level. The test systemcan be used in calibration of boat to dock, marine and land accuracy test.Categories of swing test benches are discussed in the article. The main compositions andwork principle of 3-shaft swing benches and 6 freedom degree platform system and swing shaftsystem are presented. The system related in the article features high test accuracy, wide range ofwork conditions and high kinematic inertia, which adopted 5 key technologies in the design.1 In order to ensure test accuracy, a serial overall structure is applied. A combined 2Dmovement is divided into 2 individual movements. An absolute encoder is used to measure theangle between shaft and the level. The angle value can be read out directly.2 The rigidity theory is applied in the design of bench body design to ensure deformationaccuracy of the body. The forced parts are analyzed with finite element and some establishedsoftware, which make the deformation after loading still under the accuracy requirements. Aclosed welding box structures is adopted to reduce the body weight, which make the body muchsafer and much controllable.3 Tolerance source and tolerance distribution are implemented. On the basis of that, theoverall accuracy is divided into different sub-systems. The accuracy is assured by overall systembut test system.4 A closed loop servo control is used in control system to realize trace recurrence of theswing spectrum. The centered logical control and protection are accomplished with PLCtechnology. Mis-operation can be prevented and failures can be processed automatically.5 Requirement-reducing, redundance, environment-adapting, standardization and otherreliability design methods are applied to ensure the system reliability.The self-test and the calibration of authorized unit shown that the swing shaft test benchreached design requirements.
