This thesis synthetically utilizes many methods on city—geography and city-economic, including quantity analysis method, comparing method, data analysismethod and so on. It does the main job by the statistics analysis. By researching theinland and aboard studies on the coordinating region, it is composed of 5 parts, andthe part 3 and the part 4 are we emphasis.Part 1 is about the basic related theories, which mainly introduces the definitionsand the recent researching situation on the coordinating region studies. Meanwhile,the Japanese experts' researches are the main part we focus on. At the same, we alsogive some instructions about the formation and development of coordinating regiontheories.Part 2 is about the formation and development of Japanese coordinating regionand citification. By analyzing the Japanese citifying process, we mainly introduce theformation and development of the main 3 metropolitan coordinating regions and other4 metropolitan coordinating regions in Japan, and this period is from the end of theWorld War 2 of the 20th century.In part 3, by using the quantity analysis method and comparing method, weanalyze the characters of the region, the population and the industry structure changesin the formation process of coordinating region coordinating region. And the 60s andthe 70s in 20th century is the most important period of this development.In Part4, the main job is to analyze the coordinating region's characters of regionstructure, population structure and the industry structure. And also analyze thefunction of the central city. So that we can conclude the characters, the modes and thestages of the coordinating region's development, and forecast the coordinatingregion's developing tendency.Part 5 is the epilogue...
