The rapid growth of Chinese economy drives the auto demand to increasedramatically. To assure manufacturing quality and prolong service life of vehicleshave become the pursuing target of auto makers all over the world. As we all know, the most common and severe factor that decreases service life of metal parts onauto chassis is corrosion. Currently, the corrosion prevention methods areenvironmental insulation to surface and the restriction to the environmentalconditions, including applying protective wax on the chassis. The wax coatingtechnology is one of the effective methods to assure the auto service life. The research and production of auto protective wax has long been a virginground in China. In the 1990s, protective wax products came into China along withthe introduction of foreign auto manufacturing technology and production lines. However, due to lack of knowledge about auto corrosive damage in the past decade, protective wax was not employed widely and its quality didn't obtain muchimprovements. In recent years, the fast development of domestic auto industrygives impetus to the demand of auto protective wax products. Under thisbackground, FAW Jiefang Truck (Qingdao) Manufacturing Factory set up chassiswax-spraying line to apply wax coating on the auto chassis from final assemblyline. Meanwhile, FAW Jiefang Truck Company also includes the establishment ofchassis wax-spraying line into their 2006 plan. Therefore, this paper focuses on thetheoretical discussion and actual development about black auto chassis protectivewax, whose application will enhance the anti-corrosion performance of autochassis. This paper studies the auto corrosion cases in details, sets standards for chassisprotective wax, explicates the design criteria for black chassis wax's recipe andconducts comprehensive design to it. The test analysis is made on the black chassiswax as to define working process and procedures. The application of black chassiswax in this paper meet the requirements of auto chassis color and enhance chassis'santi-corrosion performance. Moreover, the material specification and workingprocedures in this paper can instruct the production and increase competitive powerof auto makers. The contents of each chapter is as follows:Chapter 1, Introduction, mainly presents the current status of auto corrosionboth home and abroad and the emergence and development of auto wax-coatingtechnology as well as the purpose and contents of this paper.Chapter 2, The Theory of Auto Chassis Protective Wax, mainly focuses on thetheory of metal corrosion, physical covering, cathodic protection and corrosioninhibition. It includes dry corrosion, wet corrosion, polarization, corrosion control, corrosion prevention method, metal coating, non-metallic coating, paint coating, electrochemical protection, absorptive corrosion inhibition and oil soluble rustinhibition etc..Chapter 3, Recipe Design of Black Chassis Protective Wax, mainly presentsthe definition of basic film-forming substances, selection of low-temperaturemodifying agent, high-temperature modifying agent, anti-dripping agent, anti-rustagent and solvent, design of product blending process;also presents the parameterdefinition of black chassis protective wax, including environmental parameter, painting parameter and drying parameter.Chapter 4, Test Result and Analysis, first introduces the standard requirementson auto chassis protective wax, including physics-chemical performance, workingperformance and wax film performance;then presents the test evaluation andtrial-production of black chassis protective wax;meanwhile presents the workingprocedure of the wax.Chapter 5, Summary, summarizes the contents and conclusion of this paperand also look into the next-step research work.
