For the security and quality of railway transportation, setting aside some time during which trains aren't allowed to run is necessary to maintain the lines, locomotives, signal and power supply equipments. And the conflict brings pressure and difficulty to transportation and maintenance. So it is important that research rational skylight arrangement to solve the contradiction between transportation and maintenance, exert the railway advantages, improve the railway economic benefit and satisfy the transportation needs.The paper discusses the changes of railway line maintenance mode in China, analyses the skylight arrangement mode, skylight occupation time, and the skylight arrangement scheme under the character of existing transportation organization. When using large instrument for maintenance, the paper analyses the influence of V-mode and vertical skylight arrangement on carrying capacity and traveling speed, also the mathematics model among the time of sky window and carrying capacity is made in this paper, and the conclusion of skylight arrangement of different lines is made.The main research contents are as follows:1. The influence of V-mode and vertical skylight on carrying capacity of railways and travelling speed of trains.2. The proper occupation time of skylight.3. Research on skylight arrangement of single-track and double-track and high-speed railway.By studying the above aspects, the conclusion is useful to our country railway transportation organization.
