Study On Relation Between Bird And Plant Landscape

Gardens are locations of relaxation and entertainment, and of protecting biodiversity in city. City bird is one of animals that people love to see and hear, we should protect bird habitats for protecting bird, garden is one of important habitat types, and bird distribution has close relation to plant landscape.Field survey on characters of bird distribution and plant landscape of twenty-five samples picked from five parks in Xihu Scenery Area is found that bird distribution have close relation to plant selection and planting design. So we make the linear regression multianalysis between eigenvalues of bird distribution and plant elements, the results show that bird distribution has remarkably linear relation to average height of top tree, arboreal cover, shrub cover, diversity of horizontal and surrounding habitats. Later the 25 samples are divided into nine classes according to habitat type of birds and character of planting design, and we validate the above results. Finally the principles and methods of planting design for attracting and protecting birds are discussed, and some advise for reasonable planting design for birds are suggested. The author thinks that plant landscape in the five parks is mature, but compared to other parks, they also better fall short of consideration for wildlife like birds, still exists thereinafter deficiency: uneven habitats in landscape, and better single, tree-grass being in the majority;single and repeated plant material;fewer of vegetal food for birds living through the winter;the vertical and horizontal habitats of plant colony are better single. As a whole, the present landscape is not best habitat for birds, most don't satisfy bird demands. Through the above study, the author put forward the principles and methods for planting design.
