| China has thousands of history in planting design and it is outstanding among the world landscape art because of its nationality style is advocation of the nature, valuation of the traditional culture. Due to the introduction of western landscape thoughts in recent decades, the gardening of China got great progress. However, it still havn't form a style which contains Chinese regional culture characteristics.Many modern cities, like Shanghai, in the foreland of cultural intercommunion between China and Western countries, the planting design there displays a sea-class context, incorporative and comprehensive. They are thought as the best cut-in to study modern planting design, for they absorb the advanced design thoughts using for reference, excavate the realistic meaning of the traditional culture, and to some extends, probe into the thoughts and the techniques in planting designs which have regional culture characteristic.Based on largely researching the planting design on the spot, both in the Yan'an Zhonglu Greenbelt and the Xu Jiahui Park in Shanghai, the paper chose nineteen cases with varied special features of planting designs according different plant views for a further study, including plant sceneries by architecture,water,road,open or close space and plant sceneries which have special topic. With carefully survey and analysis, the paper discussed some of the useful thoughts and techniques in the planting design. Thus made a sum-up in terms of the modern planting design characteristics, the floristics in common use as well as some application shortages in Shanghai urban green space, and proposed some advice to those existing problems. In addition, through studying the heritage and appreciation of traditional landscape cultures,the creation tactics and the development trend of modern planting design is discussed in the research. In Contrast with traditional planting design, the modern planting design has different features in serving object,major function, characteristic, symbol system and technical level. It is confronted with a whole new opportunity of design. The paper also emphasized that the planting design was a process accompanied bycontinuous experiments and improvements. In order to form a Chinese modern style keeping the traditional culture features, it is necessary to make a deep research of the traditional landscape architecture, to abstract the theory and characteristic of Chinese traditional culture, and to grasp its present sense, so as to be in harmony with the modern design thoughts in the international level. |
