Study On Spatial Structure Of DaTong In Transitional Period

Since Chinese reform in the process, with the establishment of marketing system, the reform of land use and urban house system make urban spatial structure restructuring. Resource-based cities are one principal type of the cities in china. Because of the resources are exhausted gradually and city's development and spatial structure are determined by the phase of exploitation, its industry development characteristics and spatial expansion is totally different from other types' cities in transitional period.Datong is one of coal-mining cities in China which have been developed for many years. With the transformation of economy system and the exhaustion of high quality coal, its spatial structure is changing. In this thesis, the spatial structure of Datong in transitional period is discussed. The transformation development experiences of other resource-based cities and regions at home and aboard are summarized. Under the conditions of current market, transportation and production technology, the spatial structure models suitable to its own development conditions are analyzed. The findings will have important meaning to the spatial structure research and layout of other resource-based cities which are or being in shift period of resource exploitation and have benefit to the sustainable development of the cities.The thesis makes a brief description about the development of Datong and focuses on the restructuring of spatial structure of the city in transitional period. The comparison of spatial structure of Datong between transitional period and before are made. Through the research of the spatial structure types, features and evolution forces of Datong in transitional period and the contradistinction of evolution regularity of different coal mining cities in china the spatial structure evolution models of Datong are put forward. It is a kind of urban spatial layout model which is relatively centralization and separate combination. And the new constructive coal mining town should take long-distance commuting. Finally, through the analysis of developing strategy and according to the evolution models, the spatial system and the form of structure optimization of Datong areconceived. The author conceives that in transitional period resource-based cities should define the developing aims in the future and arrange cities' functional layout according to theirs features. So the appropriate spatial structure can be proposed to promote the cities' sustainable development.
