After the reform and opening up, small towns in China developed very quickly. Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Several Significant Problems of Agriculture and Rural Work adopted by the Third Session of the Fifteenth Central Committee of the Party indicated that the development of small towns is an important stratagem to drive rural economy and social development. So ä»– he development of small towns is of great significant strategically.Landscape ecological planning of small towns is a systems engineering. In accordance with the principles of landscape ecology and other correlative knowledge, aiming at the optimization of regional landscape ecological system, landscape ecological planning of small towns studies the landscape pattern, ecological process and the interaction between human activities and landscape, construct the spatial structure and pattern that optimizes the regional landscape ecological system. In this way the quantity and spatial distributing of corridor, patch and matrix can be rational, the information flow, material flow and energy flow can be expedite, and the landscape ecological system suits habitation and possesses stated aesthetic value.Based on the study of foregone research in above domain, this dissertation makes a detailed study on several aspects listed below.i) characters of the landscape pattern of small townsThrough the study on the landscape pattern, trying to explore the potential characters of great significance, and concluding the law of inducing and controlling spatial pattern.ii) dynamic process of landscape of small townsThe dynamic process of landscape of small towns accentuates the scheduling and dynamic characters of landscape's development. The study on the dynamic process of landscape of small towns emphasizes particularly on the dynamic space-time change of landscape of small towns. This kind of study can provide foundation to the landscape ecological planning of small townsiii) landscape ecological planning of small townsBased on the study on the landscape pattern analysis and the dynamic change of landscape, determining the scheme of ecological functions zoning to optimize the ecological pattern of small towns, and then, sketching out landscape ecological planning scheme, analyzing and forecasting the influence to environment induced bythe scheme, finally proposing suggestions on planning management and measures on implementing the planning.iv) approaches to landscape ecological planning management and ecological control of small townsLandscape ecological planning management of small towns is a key problem to ensure the implementing of landscape ecological planning. From the viewpoint of coordinated development of small towns and regional landscape, to ensure landscape ecological planning to be implemented, " eight lines control" system and spatial control policies should be adhered to, and relative measures and means of ecological control should be proposed and adopted.This dissertation selects indexes from landscape ecology, economics, landscape aesthetics, sociology and other subjects, which can incarnate regional landscape characters distinctly, and then studies on the characters of landscape system and the law of landscape pattern change. Based on the above research, this dissertation constructs a theoretical pattern of landscape ecological planning of small towns. Finally the dissertation concludes the methods and theories with universal applicability of landscape ecological planning on the small town level. Those methods and theories can be used in future landscape ecological planning of small towns.
