Big Cultural Halls In Vernacular Settlements

With the absence of the diversity of original Big Cultural Assembled Sites since 1970s to 1980s in China, auditoriums in every town have played an important role in replacing them. And Xiaoshan Auditoriums are representative of these auditoriums, which have actually been the multifunctional cultural centers of the towns in Xiaoshan. The purpose of this paper just lies in the study of their origin, development and significance.The paper consists of four parts: Textual research of Campaign of the Construction of Town's Cultural Center;Analysis of Xiaoshan Auditoriums from the point of Typology;Evaluation of their values and Strategies of regeneration.
