In this dissertation the characteristics of water source heat pumps (WSHPs) inseries are investigated by both simulation and experiments. The main work and resultsare as follows:A system simulation program is developed through the analysis of the scrollcompressor, capillary, condenser and evaporator in a certain water source heat pumpset. Compared with the experimental results under variant working conditions, thesimulation results are checked up and the program's errors are acceptable. And it isuseful of the system simulation program to research the optimization design of thewater source heat pump set and other interrelated researches. Then, the factors of thewater source heat pump set's performances, such as: the cooling and freezing waterinlet temperature, the flow volume of the cooling and freezing water, the area ofcondenser and evaporator, are further analyzed through the system simulationprogram.Through the system simulation program, the characteristics of WSHPs in seriesare primarily researched: Firstly, WSHPs in series can save more total-area of heatexchangers and the total-input-power of scroll compressors, compared with WSHPs inparallel in the same water inlet and outlet temperature. Secondly, a method is providedto choose appropriate temperature difference between inlet water and outlet water, aswell as the series of water source heat pump sets. Thirdly, a qualitative analysis isdiscussed that the power of water pumps will increase for WSHPs in series and theadvantage of energy saving will be weakened. Lastly, different cases of WSHPs inseries are put forward in order to have a good use of ground water at a lowtemperature.
